Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka will induct D K Shiva Kumar and R Roshan Baig into his ministry. When congress had formed government in May the MLAs were denied berths on various grounds.
The idea of cabinet expansion is to strenghten CM’s ministry ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This has created a difference of opinion in the Congress. Shiva Kumar who is going to be inducted faces cases of illegal mining, and this has created unhappiness.
The CM kept postponing the expansion. But pressure from the party and the aspirants was intense. On Tuesday, he was told to induct Shiva Kumar and Baig.
Jaya has said that her government will facilitate more help to the Centre extend talks between Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen in Chennai on January 20 to resolve the dispute over fishing rights in each other’s territorial waters.
The frequent arrests of Tamil fishermen by Sri Lankan navy for maritime violations has been a very big matter between the Centre and the state and threatens to strain Indo-Lanka relations.
She also sent letter to PM Manmohan Singh and asked the Centre to take steps to seek the release of fishermen arrested by the Lankan Army.
The ongoing fight between Arun Jaitley and Virbhadra Singh reached new heights over the latter granting undue favours to a hydro power company in which his family allegedly got a Rs 3.9-Crore loan. The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Sigh has accused BJP leader Jaitley of illegally securing his income tax returns. He also threatened a defamation case.
Singh has said that Jaitley leveled him with “wild” and “baseless” allegations and illegally procuring his I-T return details. Singh said, “Jaitley not only procured details of my income tax returns, which cannot be obtained even under RTI without the consent of the assessee, he flashed them at press conference in Shimla on October 23, 2010, withholding parts of it to suit his political agenda.”
On the other hand Jaitley remained calm and posted in social network after reacting to Singh’s threat to sue him: “Virbhadra Singh has said he would consider filing a defamation action against me. He is certainly entitled to do so. In that event I would be pleading truth as defence and cross-examining him on each case of these issues.”
Jaitley also asked Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to make a public declaration as to why they feel that Singh is innocent. He claimed that he has enough evidence against the CM of Himachal Pradesh.

If we find our solution in the right, we are happy to borrow it from there.”

AAP contested its first election in the 2013 Delhi state assembly election. It emerged as the second-largest party in Delhi winning 28 of the 70 Assembly seats. The BJP(Bhartiya Janata Party) won 31, Indian National Congress won 8 and three were won by others. On 28 December 2013, the AAP formed a minority government in the Assembly, with what Sheila Dikshit describes as “Not unconditional” support from Indian National Congress. Arvind Kejriwal became the second-youngest Chief Minister of Delhi.
